Is Solar Right for You?
Solar is a wonderful energy solution and here's some information to see how it might work for you.
Solar is definitely the right solution for you if...
- You have electric bills that average $200 or more per month
- You have a large roof with few obstructions
- The roof faces south or southwest
- You want to save money on your electric bills
You must own a home that has enough roof space free from obstructions and shading during the sunniest hours of the day. A southern orientation is ideal but east and west facing roofs can still capture over 80% of the energy of a true south-facing roof. Both flat roofs and tilted roofs are fine. If you have the space, you could consider a ground mounted system.
Note: If you're planning to repair or replace your roof, this is the PERFECT time to install a PV system. PV modules have a 20-25 year warranty and should last longer than that. It's best to use roofing material that will last at least as long as the PV system
Solar may not be right for you if...
- You have an electric bill that averages under $100 per month.
- You don't have access to a large flat area such as a roof or larger yard.
- You have large trees that shade your roof and the surrounding yard
- Your roof is in poor condition and/or can't support additional weight
